NI Region Members were delighted
to see the team from HQ in
Scotland turn out in numbers for
the recent National
Countrysports Fair at Moira
Demesne.
The SACS stand was one of the
largest and most entertaining at
the fair which celebrated 13
consecutive years in 2008.
Assisted by NI members the
scenes depiction of Ulster
upland, wetland and woodland
habitats were
educational and a real crowd
holder within the marquee. The
inclusion of interactive
displays of fly dressing, decoy
carving, stick dressing and a
comprehensive membership stand
can only reinforce the
commitment the Association has
here in Northern Ireland.
The sound of pipes and the sight
of the Scottish staff in full
highland dress did much to
heighten the senses in and
around the stand.
SACS Director, Ian Clark, had
several meetings lined up for
the two days at Moira and was
well received by MLAs, PSNI
representatives and club
officials who visited the event
and called in on the SACS stand.
NI members were particularly
pleased to see Tom Chalmers on
the stand as we know the support
he gives the HQ team at game
fairs not just here but in
Scotland and England. We
also congratulate him on
becoming a grandfather for the
first time. The rumour
mill has it that the youngster
was a life member of SACS before
he had his first nappy change!
Our thanks also go to Jackson
Nutt, Ross the piper and the
Father and son team of John and
Steve French who ran the highly
successful have-a-go shooting
facility at the fair. |
