Set
up in 1994, the Scottish Association for
Country Sports seeks to promote and
protect the future of country sports,
the environment on which they depend,
and the interests of those people who
are involved or employed in managing,
conserving and serving our unique
sporting heritage.
In
1998 the Association began to recruit
members in Northern Ireland where many
of the pressures faced by sportsmen and
women were similar to those experienced
in Scotland. Membership in the Province
continues to grow annually. In 2001 the
first Region of the Scottish Association
for Country Sports outside Scotland was
formed in Northern Ireland as an
autonomous Region . Since then the N.I.
Region has recruited over 3,000 members,
including more than sixty clubs and
seventy syndicates.
The SACS Northern Ireland Region runs
all SACS activities within the Province
and has automatic representation on the
SACS National Council. The Chairman of
the Northern Ireland Region, Conor
Moore, is also the Vice-Chairman of the
Association. SACS Northern Ireland is a
realistic, alternative sporting
organisation for those sportsmen and
women in Northern Ireland who want local
representation, local accountability and
decisive decision making. All monies
raised in Northern Ireland remain in the
control of the locally elected
representatives of the Association in
Northern Ireland. Help swell our ranks
even more by becoming a member of
Northern Ireland's fastest growing and
most dynamic country sports
organisation. |
